CHOOSING THE ACCESSORIES/JEWELRY THAT BEST COMPLIMENTS YOUR CLOTHES
Quite often my fashion lovers including my customers will ask this question in topic .."what kind of jewelry could best go with a particular outfit? (be it of color, shape or style). Accessorizing your outfit can be tricky and sometimes stressful at the same time.
You could be dressed in the most expensive or least costly outfit BUT, without the right accessories to compliment it you could either be over or under dressed or worse end up looking like a total failure (what we would call a hot mess). First off, it is key to pay attention to the shape of your clothing's neckline.
Let's look at some common fashion mistakes to avoid.
Now we look at selecting the correct necklace to match the different shapes of neckline.
Statement necklaces which sometimes as the name suggests, may be excessive and therefore goes better with a pair of simple studs or simply no earrings, while statement earrings looks better without an excessive or just no necklace. A stone or studded ring (diamond, zircon, crystal) or the now trendy set of midi rings with a bracelet will take this simple look to another level that will echo chic - cute and not blare overly accessorized.
Selecting the right jewelry to best compliment your outfit's color and make, such as lace, prints/patterns and the other accessories that make up an ensemble such as purse and shoe is also key.
Solid color/tone jewelry is best worn with printed and patterned fabrics such as chevron, checkered, stripes, multi-colored, polka-dots, floral and believe it or not.. lace. Always go for simple and minimal accessories. The term less is best speaks volume when accessorizing these pieces. However, if you have a desire to be more bold in this blended look, that may be achieved with an over-sized solid color purse and a matching or complementing color shoe.
One other key fashion tip to achieve a more bold look, with less and simple accessories is your make-up application. On my next blog post we will look at this tip in detail. Until then, keep owning your runway.
